The Reuss Repertorium
Reuss, Jeremias David (1750-1837)
Repertorium Commentationum a Societatibus Litterariis Editarum, Secundum Disciplinarum Ordinem.
[Index of Articles published by Scholarly Societies, arranged by discipline.] Gottingae, 1801-1821. Reprint edition: Burt Franklin, New York: 1961. [The category headers are given in Latin, and in later volumes in German as well.]
This 16 volume set is now freely available in digital form at http://www-gdz.sub.uni-goettingen.de/cgi-bin/digbib.cgi? PPN366452967, as part of the Göttinger Digitalisierungs-Zentrum.

A 16 volume set covering all scholarly disciplines. Restricted to journal literature published by scholarly societies. Because many scholarly journals published in the 17th and 18th centuries were published by scholarly societies, this is a good index to the journal literature of that period.

Within each discipline, the articles are arranged in a classified order, which is summarized in the table of contents for the volume. Although the tables of contents and section headings are given in Latin, the references to the journal articles are given in their original language. Each volume concludes with an author index.

This is a very rich index to the early primary literature. The only difficulties in using it are the somewhat cryptic journal-title abbreviations used, and the employment of Latin by the compiler in various critical places. Note: Most of the journal-title abbreviations in this resource may be expanded by using the area entitled Sigla ad Titulos Actorum Societatum Litterariarum Adhibenda = Abbreviations Used for the Journal Titles of Scholarly Societies within the Repertorium Veterrimarum Societatum Litterariarum (Inventory of the Oldest Scholarly Societies).
