According to its website, the Académie was founded in 1840 as the Société Centrale des Architectes.

The catalogue record for the Bulletins in the Bibliot. Nat. France cat. indicates that at some date after 1843, the name was augemented to Société Impériale et Centrale des Architectes. Unfortunately, as is so frequently the case in the Bibliot. Nat. France cat., the dates when this politically inspired name change were in effect are not given. We do, however, find a record in the Cat. Collect. France (CCFR) for the following title Société impériale et centrale des architectes. Projet de Statuts et de règlement adopté... les 21 et 28 juin 1867, which establishes that the augmented name of the Society was in effect at least in the year 1867. Records for the Bulletin and Bulletin mensuel in the Zeitschriftendatenbank (ZDB) establish this name to 1870, followed by a reversion to the former name in 1871.

According to its website, the Académie took the name Académie d’Architecture in 1953.

The record in the Bibliot. Nat. France cat. indicates that at some date after 1843 for some unspecified period of time the title was Société Impériale et Centrale des Architectes... Bulletins... The numbering statements are taken from the record in the Bibliot. Nat. France cat..

The record in the Bibliot. Nat. France cat. also indicates that from 1871 to 1891 it had the title Bulletin Mensuel de la Société Centrale des Architectes.

The record in the British Lib. cat. is quite different. It breaks the run in two pieces: (1) Bulletins des séances générales ... Composition actuelle de la société, ainsi que du bureau et du conseil pour l’exercice 1843-1844 (1844-50.-Comptes-rendus des opérations pendant l’exercice 1843-50) and (2) Bulletin pour l’exercice 1851-(70. Bulletin Mensuel pour l’année 1871-89).

The records in the Zeitschriftendatenbank (ZDB) tell yet a different story. They give the following sequence of names and dates: (a) Conférence internationale / Société Impériale et Centrale des Architectes (1867), followed by (b) Bulletin pour l'exercice / Société Impériale et Centrale des Architectes (1868 - 1869), followed by (c) Bulletin / Société Impériale et Centrale des Architectes (1870), followed by (d) Bulletin Mensuel / Société Centrale des Architectes (1871 - 1873; 4.Ser. 1.1874 - 2.1875[?]; 5.Ser. 2.1879 - 6.1883[?]). The record also indicates that the last-mentioned title was issued together with B.
