1827	According to its website, this Society was founded in 1827 as the Provinciaal Friesch Genootschap ter Beoefening van Friesche Geschied-, Oudheid- en Taalkunde (Provincial Frisian Society for the Cultivation of Frisian History, Archaeology, and Linguistics); in 2002, it became the Keninklik Frysk Genoatskip foar Skiednis en Kultuer = Koninklijk Fries Genootschap voor Geschiedenis en Cultuur. According to p.195 of a book review of Briefe von R. Rask an J. H. Halbertsma that appeared on pp.195-201 of Vol. 6, No. 2 (Jun., 1930) of Language, the Society was founded on 1827, September 26. As may be seen below there were some variants on the older name before the change in 2002 to the new name.

According to p.195 of a book review of Briefe von R. Rask an J. H. Halbertsma that appeared on pp.195-201 of Vol. 6, No. 2 (Jun., 1930) of Language, the Society was founded on 1827, September 26.

As may be seen below there were some variants on the older name before the change in 2002 to the new name.
